Position Summary:
The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing, installing, and maintaining production and manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing environment. This position supports manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues to minimize downtime. The role requires use of personal hand tools and adherence to all company and departmental policies, including Quality and Food Safety Policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Maintenance Practices (GMP), CPF Safety, and general work rules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or adjustments as required.
- Perform weekly, monthly, and yearly preventive maintenance on assigned production lines.
- Respond promptly to line calls and equipment breakdowns.
- Repair and troubleshoot production equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Assist with upgrades to equipment or technology and collaborate with outside contractors as needed.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree, Trade, or Technical School
- More than 5 years of maintenance experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns.
- More than 4 years knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmissions.
- Previous experience with PLCs, conveyors, airveyors, and electrical systems preferred.
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing is required.
- Must have own hand tools and the ability to use them safely and effectively.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Work Environment:
- Frequent work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals.
- Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs) and activities including climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling.
- Must follow all safety, hygiene, and company compliance protocols.
